Overview
The Marangu route is perhaps the easiest and most comfortable route to reach the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro. The route is well-developed and the climb is constant and moderate, except for the summit night which is more demanding. Accommodation is in simple mountain huts, which might be an advantage compared to camping routes.
Tour Itinerary
A 2-4 hour hike to Zebra Rocks (3,980 m) for acclimatization. Enjoy scenic views and return to Horombo Hut for lunch and rest. Accommodation: Horombo Hut (3,700 m) Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
After breakfast at the hotel, you will be taken to Kilimanjaro National Park gate (1,840 m). After registration, hike through dense rainforest to Mandara Hut (2,700 m). Enjoy a short walk to Maundi Crater with views of Kenya. Accommodation: Mandara Hut (2,700 m) Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Trek past the "Last Water Point" across the barren saddle linking Mawenzi and Kibo. Reach Kibo Hut (4,700 m) in 5-6 hours. Rest early for summit attempt. Accommodation: Kibo Hut (4,700 m) Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Final descent via Mandara Hut back to Marangu Gate. Celebrate your successful climb and transfer back to Arusha for a hot shower and relaxation at the hotel. Accommodation: Green Hills of Africa Hotel Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Midnight start to climb to Gilman's Point (5,715 m), then to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) — the Roof of Africa. Descend back to Kibo Hut for lunch, then to Horombo Hut. Accommodation: Horombo Hut (3,700 m) Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Leaving the rainforest, the path leads to moorland and shrubs. After 4-6 hours trekking, reach Horombo Hut (3,700 m) with views of Mawenzi, Kibo, and the Maasai steppe. Accommodation: Horombo Hut (3,700 m) Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
